In the summer of 2024, I went with my wife and granddaughter to the Young V&A Children's Museum in London. We saw, as part of an exhibit of objects made from discarded and reused materials, a set of table and chairs made from an old packing crate. This reminded me of the pallet guitar Bob Taylor built in 1995, followed by Taylor's limited series run of 25 pallet guitars in 2000. I came home from London inspired and decided to try one myself. These pallet guitars - each with its own history, idiosyncrasies, design details, and amazing sound - are the result.
Take a look below to see the pallet guitars I've made and some of the scrap materials I've used in these unique instruments. Most pallets do not have hardwoods that are usable for guitars, so I am always on the lookout for materials. I have enough pallets on hand for a few more of these. Interested in having a pallet guitar of your own? If so, email me at DredfogGuitars@gmail.com.
